The process begins by meticulously drawing out the design in pencil before it goes through a process of waxing and dyeing. Being a fan of the Visual Arts I hoped to help preserve motifs from a dying folkart that was introduced to me at work. I thought that using a stylus with a wax medium was different and unique and I took to it. The Ukrainians that I have learned from mean the world to me, but I never expected to find a community of people giving me messages thanking me for bringing back memories of their grandmother, or have people say they had never seen this before. I never expected so many people to feel a connection to this time consuming strange, quiet little art, but I’m so glad you do.
